On Feburary 28, 2020,  Wohali Partners submitted a third application to construct only the golf course.  The excavation and building permit for the golf course were approved by the City Staff on April 14, 2020.

Citizen’s Appeal

While it is important to understand the City Staff’s position on this decision, as citizen’s we also reserve the right to present our perspective. In an electronic City Council meeting on April 13, 2020 Don Sargent informed the Council of his intent to approve the golf course application. Due to the unusual meeting format where no one was visible and particularly because no vote was requested  it was impossible to know if the Council was supportive of this approval.

We understand that Staff has authority to make routine permitted use approvals but it is also clearly within Staff’s authority to request formal approval by the City Council and even a public hearing.  Due to the magnitude of this decision and the intense public interest it seems prudent and in the best interest of not only the city but also the applicant to receive additional affirmation of this critical approval.

For this primary purpose a group of 10 citizens has joined together and filed an appeal to have this approval reviewed by our City Council – Appellate Body.  You can read the full appeal and attachments here:
